Our Mission
Lakeshore PAWS is dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned and unwanted pets in Northwest Indiana because we believe they deserve a second chance. We are hope, we are second chances, and we are here to support every animal in our care.
Our Story
Established in 2011 by founders Jeanne Sommer and Kim Langer, our organization was born from a simple but powerful need: to help the growing number of animals without homes in our community. We are a volunteer-run, 501(c)3 non-profit rescue committed to creating a culture of compassion across Northwest Indiana.
How We Care
Located in Valparaiso, we operate as a private rescue facility focused on providing medical, behavioral, and socialization support to dogs in need. We pull our dogs from local shelters where they face the risk of euthanasia, ensuring they receive all the care required to thrive. With a 98% save rate, we believe in treating each animal with the kindness and dignity they deserve.
