The Independent Cat Society is dedicated to rescuing, sheltering, and finding loving homes for homeless felines. Since 1977, we have remained committed to our mission as a non-profit, no-kill shelter serving Northwest Indiana.
For nearly 50 years, our organization has worked to reduce pet overpopulation and promote responsible ownership. By focusing on education and humane legislation, we strive to create a kinder community for cats throughout Northwest Indiana, the neighboring Chicago area, and Southwest Michigan.
We provide a safe sanctuary for homeless felines, ensuring their healthcare needs are met while they await their forever families. Beyond our shelter walls, we actively address feline overpopulation through programs like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and discounted spay/neuter services. These initiatives allow us to support the well-being of cats both in our facility and across the community.
Adoption is the joyful culmination of our work, and we believe in the power of building a lifetime bond between a cat and their new guardian. By choosing to adopt from the Independent Cat Society, you are directly contributing to our no-kill mission and giving a deserving cat a second chance at happiness.
Are you ready to welcome a new companion into your home? We invite you to browse our adoptable cats online or visit our shelter in Westville, Indiana, during our public hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. If you have questions about our residents or our programs, please feel free to reach out via email or phone—we look forward to helping you find your perfect match!
