Our Mission
The Des Moines County Humane Society is dedicated to the welfare of all animals in Des Moines County, Iowa. Through the generous support of our community, we work tirelessly to ensure every animal receives the care and second chance they deserve.
Who We Are
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we rely entirely on the compassion of our donors and volunteers to fund our life-saving work. We operate an adoption program located within the city-owned Burlington Animal Shelter at 2000 N. Roosevelt Avenue, serving as a vital resource for homeless pets in our region.
How We Care
Our shelter operates through a dedicated team of staff and community volunteers who manage everything from daily animal care to our medical and adoption programs. We are committed to providing essential health services for our residents, ensuring every dog and cat is spayed or neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before heading to their new home.
