Our Mission
Last Hope Animal Rescue is dedicated to saving homeless, abused, and neglected animals, placing them into loving, forever homes where they can be cherished. We work together to provide second chances and build brighter futures for every animal in our care.
Our History and Community
Founded in 2004, we began as a collective of caring individuals who saw an urgent need to help animals in Eastern Iowa. Over the past 20 years, we have grown into a 100% volunteer-run organization, relying entirely on the generosity of our donors to fuel our life-saving efforts without any state or federal funding.
How We Operate
We are a foster-based rescue, meaning most of our animals live in loving temporary homes until they are adopted. In 2015, we established an adoption center in Cedar Rapids, which serves as a central hub for our volunteers and as an intake facility for animals requiring extra medical or behavioral support before entering the foster network.

Because our animals spend time in foster homes, we gain unique insights into their true personalities, allowing our counselors to help you find the perfect match for your family. This supportive process ensures that each animal finds a home suited to their specific needs and social personality.
