Our Mission
Last Hope Animal Rescue is dedicated to saving as many homeless, abused, abandoned, and neglected animals as we can, placing them into loving, forever homes where they will be cherished. Together, we save lives.
Our Story
Founded in 2004 by a group of like-minded individuals, our organization formed to address the urgent needs of animals across Eastern Iowa. Over the past 20 years, we have evolved significantly, remaining a 100% volunteer-run collective that relies entirely on the generosity of our community.
How We Help
We operate as a foster-based rescue, meaning our adoptable pets live in caring homes where they receive love, stability, and socialization while waiting for their perfect match. In 2015, we established a commercial adoption center in Cedar Rapids to serve as an intake facility for animals requiring extra medical or behavioral care before they move into foster or forever homes.

We believe that successful adoption starts with deep understanding, which is why our counselors use insights from foster families to help families meet their ideal companion. Because our foster parents observe an animal's true personality firsthand, we can provide transparency regarding an animal's specific needs to ensure a happy, lifelong partnership for everyone involved.
