Our Mission
PAWS Humane Society is dedicated to preventing neglect and cruelty toward unwanted or abandoned animals while serving as a compassionate, no-kill sanctuary for pets in need. We believe that every animal deserves a loving second chance and the opportunity to find a forever family.
Our History
Founded in July 2000, our organization emerged from the community's desire to provide a more humane alternative for lost and abandoned animals in Floyd County. Today, we operate out of our shelter facility in Charles City, fulfilling both animal control services and our mission as a dedicated humane society.
How We Care
As one of the few no-kill shelters in Iowa, we are committed to finding loving homes for every adoptable animal in our care. Our facility provides essential health exams, vaccinations, and spay or neuter services to ensure each pet is ready for their new life. We also rely on a network of dedicated foster homes to help animals with special needs, anxiety, or those requiring extra socialization until they are ready to transition to a permanent home.
