Our Mission
The Marion County Humane Society is dedicated to providing compassionate care for homeless pets, reuniting lost animals with their families, and finding loving, permanent homes for dogs and cats in need.
Our History and Community
Since our founding in 1986, we have served the entirety of Marion County, Iowa, from our facility in Knoxville. We believe that by providing a safe shelter for stray, lost, and abandoned pets, we strengthen the bond between animals and the people who love them.
Our Care Model
Our shelter operates as a central hub of care where our dedicated staff and volunteers work hard to socialize, walk, and nurture every animal during their stay. We are committed to responsible care, which includes prioritizing spay and neuter services to support animal health and address pet overpopulation within our community.
