Since 1998, the Jefferson County Humane Society has been dedicated to providing loving, exceptional care for cats and dogs of all ages and needs. We believe every animal deserves a chance at a happy life, and we are here to be their hero.
Our Story
Founded by a group of concerned citizens in Jefferson County, Kansas, our organization was created to address the vital needs of abandoned, surrendered, and stray animals. Over the years, we have grown into a dedicated team working to create a more humane community for all companion animals.

We operate as a proud No-Kill shelter, striving to provide a safe and healthy environment for every animal in our care. Our approach includes a robust network of volunteers and foster parents who open their hearts and homes to help our animals thrive while they wait for their forever families. We are deeply committed to maintaining a high live-release rate and ensuring each animal receives the medical and emotional support they require.
