Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter

Our Mission

At the Knox-Whitley Humane Association, we dedicate ourselves to providing compassionate care and safe, loving homes for every animal that comes through our doors. We believe that every pet deserves a chance at a happy life, and we work tirelessly to make that dream a reality for the animals in our community.

Providing a Second Chance

Our organization is driven by the goal of finding a forever home for every animal we serve. We are committed to fostering a supportive environment while animals are in our care, ensuring they remain as comfortable as possible while they wait to meet their new families. Through our dedicated staff and community support, we strive to make a lasting difference in the lives of our local pets.

How We Care

We provide a safe, nurturing shelter environment for animals in need, supported by a passionate community of volunteers. Our facility in Corbin serves as a hub for care, where our team ensures each animal receives necessary attention and socialization. Programs like our Hiking for a Paws initiative offer our dogs meaningful outdoor time and refreshing socialization while they await adoption.

Your Partner in Adoption

Adopting from Knox-Whitley Humane is a straightforward and joyful journey. When you choose to adopt, you can feel confident knowing that your new companion has been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before heading home. We focus on thoughtful, transparent care so you can build a meaningful, lifelong bond with your new furry friend.

Join Our Mission

The best way to get to know us and meet your next best friend is by visiting us in person at our Corbin location during our operating hours. You can also explore our available pets online or learn how to become a volunteer. Whether you choose to adopt, contribute to our mission, or help out at our facility, your support directly impacts the lives of the animals we serve.

9/30 - ONE WEEK. 🥹🖤 One week ago, Traffic Cone was barely using her back legs. We didn’t know if it was a fracture, neurological, something requiring intensive surgery or if we were going to have to make the decision to let her go. But she was still there. She was eating, drinking and trying. So I wasn’t ready to give up on her. Turns out, what she needed was water therapy, exercise, patience and time. And now? TRAFFIC CONE RUNS. 😭 Somehow, I also keep finding her in my “prayer closet,” curled up beside a sign I haven’t hung yet: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13 Maybe she can’t read. 😂 But seeing this kitten beside that sign gets me every time. A HUGE thank you to Veterinary Care Center, everyone who donated toward her care, prayed for her, checked on her and cheered her on. Because of you, we were able to give her time. And look what she did with it. 🥹🖤 She heads back to the vet soon for a recheck, but for now… LOOK AT HER GO. 🥹 Traffic cones aren’t meant to stay in one place forever. 🖤 #catsoftiktok #adoptdontshop #rescue @Veterinary Care Center

9/22 - 🚨 TRAFFIC CONE NEEDS A LITTLE HELP 🚨 Yes. Her name is Traffic Cone. 🥺🧡 This tiny girl is only around 8 weeks old, and when she first came to us, we noticed she had a slight limp. Unfortunately, instead of improving, it has gotten significantly worse. Traffic Cone is now unable to use her back legs at all. We don’t know what is causing it yet, but she has an appointment tomorrow at Veterinary Care Center to hopefully get some answers and figure out what we can do to help her. At this time, we have no idea what her diagnostics or treatment may cost, but we know this little girl deserves the chance to find out what’s going on. ❤️ If you would like to help with Traffic Cone’s medical expenses, donations can be called directly into Veterinary Care Center on behalf of Knox-Whitley Humane Association/Traffic Cone. Any amount helps, even just a few dollars. And if you aren’t able to donate, sharing her post helps too. We’ll update everyone once Traffic Cone has been seen and we know more. 🧡🚧 For now, send some love to the tiniest Traffic Cone you’ve ever seen. 🥺 📞 Veterinary Care Center (606) 268-3848
