The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society promotes the humane treatment of animals through compassionate care, community engagement, and dedicated support. We are committed to fostering a culture where every companion animal is treated with kindness and respect.
Established in 1972, our non-profit organization was formed to provide a lifeline for abandoned and unwanted domestic animals throughout Boyle County. From our early days to the expansion of our facilities in 2005 and 2016, we have grown into a modern sanctuary dedicated to giving animals the comfort and care they deserve while they await their forever families.
Governed by a dedicated volunteer board, our organization operates a local animal shelter where we focus on providing high-quality care for approximately 300 animals annually. Beyond our physical shelter, we rely on a compassionate network of volunteers and foster families to provide extra love and socialization. We also utilize initiatives like our Mutts with Manners program and local rehoming assistance to ensure every pet finds the right environment to thrive.
We believe that adopting a pet is the beginning of a beautiful, joyful partnership. Our team works hard to understand the personalities and needs of the animals in our care, ensuring that you find a companion who perfectly matches your lifestyle. By choosing to rescue, you are not just bringing a pet home; you are providing a second chance at happiness.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer your time, or support our efforts through donations, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to visit us at our facility on the Danville Bypass to meet our adoptable residents in person. Together, we can continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of local animals.
