The Scott County Humane Society is dedicated to saving and improving the lives of animals while supporting community members who need assistance with pet care. We believe every pet deserves a safe, loving home and a fresh start.
Our Commitment Since 1981
For over four decades, our volunteer-run organization has provided essential lifesaving programs and outreach services. We were founded on the belief that by working together, we can provide the resources necessary to care for local animals and help families stay together through our food bank and spay/neuter initiatives.
How We Serve Our Community
We take a collaborative approach to animal welfare by partnering daily with the Scott County Animal Shelter, the county's open-admission facility for surrendered or abandoned animals. Rather than operating our own intake facility, we focus our energy on robust foster and adoption programs, community vaccine clinics, and our Adoption and Education Center in Georgetown. This model allows us to provide a safe, temporary environment for animals to heal and grow while they prepare for their forever families.
