The Humane Society of Oldham County is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing animals in need while safeguarding the health and happiness of every creature that comes through our doors. We believe in providing compassionate outcomes through professional service and community education.
Since 1986, we have served as a stand-alone, no-kill animal rescue committed to the well-being of animals in Oldham County and beyond. We were created to help our county manage its shelter and have since focused our efforts on reducing pet overpopulation through our low-cost spay/neuter clinics and various community support programs.
Our organization relies on a dedicated team of staff and a large, passionate volunteer base to maintain high ethical standards. We operate a facility where we provide medical care and shelter, while also utilizing a network of foster homes to provide a loving, temporary environment for dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies. This foster network is essential for helping our animals transition into their permanent homes.
Adopting is a big, joyful decision, and we are here to ensure you find the perfect companion for your lifestyle. Our team facilitates meet-and-greets to ensure a successful match, and all our adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their shots. We pride ourselves on transparent, thoughtful matching to create lifelong partnerships between pets and their new families.
Whether you are ready to open your home to a new pet, interested in volunteering, or want to support our mission through donations, we would love to connect with you. Visit us at our La Grange facility on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday to meet our adoptable residents, or explore our website to view available pets and discover how you can help us continue our life-saving work.
