Anderson Humane Society, Inc. (AHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the homeless and abandoned animal population of Anderson County, Kentucky. We lead our community by elevating the quality of life for companion animals and fostering meaningful bonds between pets and people.
Founded in 1975 by Ann Garrison and Virginia Holman, our society was born from a commitment to local animal welfare. Over the decades, we have evolved from an advocacy group into a dedicated team focused solely on adoption, education, and community support programs. Today, we stand as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, governed by a local board and powered entirely by our community’s generosity.
Operating from our Adoption Center in Lawrenceburg, we provide essential care for animals in need. We focus on animal welfare services while collaborating with community partners to ensure every pet receives the support they deserve. From facilitating adoptions to providing spay and neuter assistance, we strive to be a resource for pet parents throughout the county.
We believe every animal is a unique individual, which is why we approach adoption with care and thoughtful consideration. Our goal is to find the perfect match for both the pet and the adopter, creating lifelong partnerships rather than just successful transactions. By getting to know you as a pet parent, we ensure each placement is a happy, long-term success story.
Whether you are looking to welcome a new friend into your home or want to support our life-saving work through volunteering or donations, we invite you to get involved.
