Animal Care Society is dedicated to providing new, safe, and loving forever homes for adoptable dogs and cats. We believe the relationship between humans and animals has deep significance and we strive to offer a better life for everyone.
Founded in 1984 by nine passionate community members, we are proud to be Kentucky’s first no-kill shelter. For over 30 years, we have served as a pillar in the Louisville community, helping more than 17,000 animals find their perfect match.
As a 501c3 non-profit that receives no government funding, we are entirely supported by our generous community. We operate an adoption facility where we provide devoted attention and humane care, ensuring every animal receives necessary medical treatment—including spay/neuter services and vaccinations—before finding their new home.
Adoption is a joyful commitment, and we are here to ensure a successful, lasting bond between you and your new pet. Our team reviews every application carefully to create the best possible fit, and we offer resources like training classes to support you as you welcome a new furry friend into your family.
We invite you to experience the life-changing impact of adoption. Please visit our Adoptable Dogs or Adoptable Cats pages to meet the animals currently waiting for their second chance, or contact us to learn how you can get involved.
