Gateway Area Humane Society
Our Mission
The Gateway Area Humane Society is dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of animals by providing temporary shelter to those in need, promoting compassionate care, and offering accessible, low-cost solutions to pet overpopulation.
Our Story
Established in 1982, our organization began with a small group committed to animal advocacy and cruelty prevention. Over the decades, we have evolved into a full-service, volunteer-run organization that serves our community with unwavering compassion and a deep belief that every animal deserves a second chance.
How We Operate
We are proud to be a 100% no-kill facility, which means we care for our dogs and cats for as long as it takes for them to find their perfect forever homes. As a 100% volunteer-run non-profit, we focus our energy on providing a high standard of care, medical support, and specialized spay and neuter services to prevent future homelessness.
Your Adoption Journey
Adoption is a lifelong, joyful commitment, and our team is here to ensure that every transition is a success. By utilizing a thoughtful application and appointment-based process, we help match each animal with a family that fits their unique personality and needs. We work diligently to prepare our pets for your home, including vaccinations, microchipping, and spay or neuter surgeries, so they arrive ready for their new life with you.
