Animal Refuge Center Inc.
Saving Lives, Together
Since 1989, the Animal Refuge Center has been dedicated to a simple, life-saving mission: providing a safe haven for homeless animals and connecting them with loving, permanent families. We are committed to ending the cycle of pet homelessness in Hardin County, Kentucky, through compassionate care and community education.
Our Story of Resilience
Founded on July 29, 1989, we began as a small group of volunteers with a deep passion for animal welfare. Over more than three decades, our journey has been defined by the strength of our community and our unwavering commitment to the animals in our care, allowing us to evolve into the sanctuary we are today.
A Caring, Cageless Environment
We operate a no-kill, cageless animal facility in a renovated ranch-style home in Vine Grove, Kentucky, housing at least 130 cats and 15 dogs at any given time. Our animals live in a comfortable, communal environment where they receive daily interaction from our staff and volunteers, ensuring they are well-socialized and ready for their next chapter.
Building Lifelong Friendships
We believe that adoption is the start of a beautiful partnership, which is why we invest time in understanding each pet’s unique personality. By ensuring every animal is spayed, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before they go home, we help set both the pet and their new family up for a lifetime of success and joy.
Join Our Mission
Your support is the heartbeat of everything we do, whether you choose to adopt, volunteer your time, or become a monthly sponsor. We invite you to visit us in Vine Grove or join us at our monthly adoption events to meet the wonderful pets currently waiting for their forever homes. Together, we can continue saving lives and creating happy endings for thousands of animals.
