Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is a dedicated, volunteer-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to the rescue and aid of abandoned, homeless, and neglected animals in the New Orleans area.
Founded in 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, ARNO emerged from the urgent efforts of a talented team of volunteers working to assist displaced pets and their families. Today, we continue that legacy, serving as a pillar of support for animals in need of medical care, including those who are too young, too old, or simply in need of a second chance at a loving life.
We operate a no-kill, volunteer-based triage shelter in Elmwood, Louisiana, where our animals are treated with the love and individual attention they deserve as if they were our own. Our organization thrives on the tireless dedication of local and out-of-state volunteers, all united by a common goal to rescue, foster, and find permanent, happy homes for our companions.
We believe that every adoption is the beginning of a beautiful, lifelong bond, which is why we prioritize thoughtful, successful matching. Our comprehensive process ensures that each animal is placed in a home where all family members are on board, helping us secure a stable, permanent future for the pets who come through our doors.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our adoptable pets online and reach out to our team at adopt@animalrescueneworleans.org to begin your adoption application. Together, we can make room for more rescues and ensure that every companion animal finds the love they deserve.
