Take Paws Rescue is dedicated to meeting our moral obligation to protect and save the lives of pets in need across Louisiana. We are a passionate team committed to ensuring every animal finds its way to a loving forever home.
Founded in 2015 by Monique Bonnaffons, our rescue began after a life-saving encounter with a dog named Clarence. Supported by her family, Monique transformed her passion for the underdog into a thriving organization that has grown from a small effort to a network saving hundreds of animals every month.
We are a foster-based, non-profit rescue group based in New Orleans. Rather than keeping animals in a shelter, our rescued friends live with loving foster families across South East Louisiana, where they receive socialization, training, and care in a home environment.
We are also proud of our new Stray Café in New Orleans, which provides a dedicated space to help dogs transition from homelessness to their new lives through focused love and attention. By partnering with veterinarians and volunteers, we prepare pets for transport to adopters across the U.S. and beyond.
Adopting a pet is a life-long commitment, and we take the process of matching you with your new family member very seriously. Our detailed screening and home visit process are designed with one goal in mind: ensuring a perfect, lasting fit for both the animal and your household. We believe in providing transparency and support every step of the way to make the transition into your home a joyful experience.
