Baywater Animal Rescue
Our Mission
Baywater Animal Rescue exists to provide humane shelter and care for companion animals in need, while promoting kindness and a clear opportunity for life. We believe in the power of second chances and the lasting bonds created between people and their new furry friends.
Serving Our Community for Decades
Founded in 1947 and previously known as the Humane Society of Dorchester County, we have dedicated over 79 years to helping animals and people in our region. Our commitment to our community is reflected in our proud 98.5% save rate, an achievement made possible by the unwavering support of our staff, volunteers, and donors.
Our Care Model
We are a proud no-kill shelter located in Cambridge, MD, where we prioritize the health and temperament of every resident. Our unique Shelter Life Enrichment Program (SLEP) ensures our animals stay mentally sharp and happy by engaging them with puzzles, games, and meaningful interaction with our dedicated volunteer team.
Finding Your Perfect Match
At Baywater, we want you to think adoption first when considering a new family member. We provide personalized pre-adoption assistance to help you find the best match for your lifestyle and offer ongoing post-adoption support for the life of your pet. Every adoption not only gives a homeless pet a loving home but also creates space for us to save another animal in need.
