Talbot Humane is dedicated to providing a safe, healthy environment for animals in our care while strengthening the human-animal bond through community-based programs. We believe the best shelter is a truly humane community where every treatable, adoptable pet finds a loving home.
Serving the Mid-Shore Since 1932
For over 90 years, we have served the people and pets of Maryland’s Eastern Shore with compassion, transparency, and thoughtfulness. Our commitment has grown from traditional animal sheltering into a comprehensive resource that includes medical and behavioral intervention, pet food pantries, and low-cost spay and neuter services to keep families together.
Our Care Model
We are an open admission shelter for Talbot County, where our team of staff and over 100 dedicated volunteers ensure every animal receives personalized care and socialization. We utilize a robust foster network to provide temporary homes for hundreds of animals each year, ensuring they feel secure while awaiting their permanent placement. Our goal is to maintain a high live-release rate by focusing on the unique needs of every animal that enters our facility.
