The Humane Society of Harford County promotes the humane treatment of homeless, stray, and abandoned animals by providing shelter, care, adoptions, and community education. We are dedicated to ending pet overpopulation and advocating for the well-being of every animal in our care.
Since 1946, we have served as a compassionate resource for Harford County. Founded by a group of animal lovers to support pets in need, we have grown into an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, operating as the county's sole facility for the care and treatment of stray or seized animals.
As an open-admission shelter, we accept every animal brought to our doors in Harford County. We uphold the Five Freedoms for every resident, providing them with nutrition, medical care, and a safe, warm environment while they await their forever families.
Adopting a pet is a life-long, joyful partnership that saves lives. Our team is committed to providing you with full, transparent information about each animal's personality and needs so you can find the perfect match for your family. By choosing to adopt, you are welcoming a deserving pet into your home and becoming a vital part of our lifesaving work.
Whether you are ready to meet your new best friend or want to learn about our fostering and volunteer programs, we invite you to visit our facility on Connolly Road. Discover our available animals online or stop by today to help us make a lasting difference in the lives of local pets.
