The Humane Society of Harford County promotes the humane treatment of homeless, stray, and abandoned animals by providing shelter, care, adoptions, and community education. We are dedicated to uniting pets and people, a mission we have proudly pursued since 1946.
Located in a former farmhouse in Fallston, we have served Harford County for over 80 years. While we are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and not part of the county government or the national Humane Society, we are proud to serve as the county’s sole open-admission shelter, caring for approximately 3,500 animals annually.
We provide food, shelter, medical care, and loving attention to every animal that comes through our doors. Our facility operates on the Five Freedoms of animal welfare, ensuring every pet receives the comfort, care, and compassion they deserve while waiting for their forever homes. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to maintain high standards of care for every dog, cat, and small animal in our charge.
Adoption is a life-long commitment, and we believe in the power of thoughtful matching to create lasting bonds. Our staff and volunteers are here to help you navigate this rewarding journey, offering insights into each animal’s personality to ensure the perfect fit for your family and lifestyle. When you adopt from us, you aren't just finding a companion; you are saving a life and gaining a lifelong friend.
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to browse our Featured Pets online or visit us at our Fallston location to experience the joy of adoption firsthand. Together, we can end pet overpopulation and ensure every animal in our community finds the love they deserve.
