TRU Rescue
Our Mission
TRU Rescue, also known as They Rescue Us, Inc., is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless animals and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Why We Rescue
Based in Phoenix, Maryland, we address the urgent need for rescue by partnering with high-kill shelters in southern states. Many of these regions lack the resources or space for vulnerable dogs, so we work to transport them to the Maryland area where they can find a fresh start.
Our Foster-Based Model
We believe that dogs thrive best in a home environment while they wait for their forever families. That is why our rescue operates entirely through a network of loving foster homes rather than a physical kennel facility. This model allows our dogs to transition into family life comfortably and gives us the opportunity to learn more about their unique personalities.
Building a Perfect Match
Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we take pride in our comprehensive, thoughtful matching process. We use a 2-step approval system—including a virtual home visit—to ensure every dog finds a home that perfectly suits their individual needs and lifestyle. We are committed to transparency and provide adopters with as much information as possible to ensure a successful, lasting connection.
