Calvert Animal Welfare League - CAWL
Our Mission
Our mission is to find loving, lifelong homes for cats and dogs in Calvert County. We operate a state-of-the-art animal adoption and education center dedicated to the welfare of both pets and people.
Our History and Community
Established in 1992, the Calvert Animal Welfare League has been operating our dedicated facility since 2004. As an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit, we rely entirely on the generous support of our community to provide care for homeless animals every single day of the year.
Our Care Model
We are a limited-intake facility staffed entirely by passionate volunteers who ensure our residents receive consistent love, socialization, and medical care. Beyond our onsite facility, we utilize foster homes to provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals as they prepare for their permanent placements.
The Adoption Partnership
We believe in finding the perfect fit for both you and your new companion rather than working on a first-come, first-served basis. By getting to know your household and the individual personalities of our animals, we create lasting, joyful partnerships that stand the test of time.
Join Us
We invite you to experience the warmth of our community by visiting our adoption and education center. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to explore our upcoming events, we look forward to meeting you and helping you find your new best friend.
