Pets with Disabilities

Welcome to Pets with Disabilities, a dedicated nonprofit organization that has been transforming the lives of animals with physical disabilities for over 20 years. Founded by Mike and Joyce, our journey began with an inspiring tale of love and resilience when we adopted a shepherd named Duke, whose spinal injury led us to realize the urgent need for support and awareness for disabled pets. At Pets with Disabilities, we believe that every animal deserves a chance at a loving home, regardless of their physical challenges. Our mission is not only to provide humane shelter and specialized veterinary care but also to empower families with resources and education about adopting and caring for pets with disabilities. We serve as both a bridge to a better life and a forever home for these special animals, ensuring that their spirits remain unbroken. Our facility in Prince Frederick, MD, is a sanctuary for dogs and cats in need, where we foster a nurturing environment for those who might otherwise be overlooked. Each animal under our care receives the love and attention they deserve, whether it's a temporary home until a forever family is found or a permanent safe haven. We invite you to meet our incredible animals available for adoption, each with their own unique story, and learn how you can make a difference in their lives. Through our adoption process tailored to ensure the right fit for both pets and families, we're dedicated to matching loving companions with caring homes. Join us in our mission by attending our exciting events, such as "A Toast to Pets with Disabilities," or consider supporting us through donations and merchandise purchases. Your involvement is crucial to our ongoing efforts to give these "uniquely-abled" animals the second chance they deserve. Together, we can inspire change and spread joy within our community, proving that love knows no boundaries. Thank you for considering becoming a part of our family at Pets with Disabilities. We look forward to welcoming you and working together to provide a brighter future for animals in need.
