At the Caroline County Humane Society, we believe every animal deserves safety, compassion, and a loving home. We are dedicated to promoting an environment that improves the welfare of animals while enhancing the quality of life for both people and pets in our community.
Established in the mid-1980s, we have grown into an 'Open Door, Open Heart' shelter committed to our residents. We were re-established in 1994 in memory of Christina Blades Fleetwood, whose legacy continues to inspire our work in providing humane services to the animals of Caroline County.
As a 501(c)3 non-profit contracted by the county government, we care for approximately 1,500 animals every year. Our facility serves as a hub for active adoption and rescue programs, supported by a dedicated staff and volunteer network that ensures every animal receives daily care, medical treatment, and enrichment.
Adoption is a joyful partnership that offers a second chance at happiness. We believe in thoughtful matching, ensuring that each animal finds a home best suited to their individual needs, creating space for another animal in need to receive the care they deserve.
Whether you are ready to welcome a new family member, volunteer your time, or support our community programs, we invite you to be part of our work. Please visit us at our Ridgely location or browse our current list of adoptable dogs and cats to find your best friend today.
