The Humane Society of Carroll County is dedicated to the compassionate treatment of animals through adoption, population control, education, and protection. We are committed to building a compassionate, no-kill future where every animal in our care is treated with dignity.
A History of Compassion
Founded in 1945 by a group of concerned citizens, we have served the Carroll County community for nearly 80 years. In 1977, the County formally entrusted us with the enforcement of domestic animal laws and the operation of the local animal shelter. Today, we continue this legacy by advocating for the welfare of every animal entrusted to us.
How We Care for Our Animals
Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we go beyond simple shelter care to provide a holistic pathway to finding a forever home. Our facility relies on a dedicated network of volunteer fosters, community donors, and partners—such as our collaborative programs with local PetSmart stores—to provide medical treatment, nutritious food, and essential enrichment. Through these efforts, we help more than 3,000 animals each year find the loving homes they deserve.
