CARE Southcoast is a volunteer-run, no-kill rescue dedicated to providing a voice for homeless, abused, and forgotten animals across the Southcoast region of Massachusetts. We strive to transform the lives of animals that others may have overlooked, rehabbing them into confident, happy, and healthy companions.
Founded on a deep-rooted passion for helping the underdog, our organization focuses on animals that often struggle in traditional shelter environments, including seniors, those with medical needs, and dogs with behavioral challenges. We believe every animal deserves a second chance, and we serve as a vital lifeline for pets in need, including providing support for feral cat populations and families facing temporary hardship.
We operate through a compassionate, community-focused model. Our rescue dogs thrive in loving foster homes, which allows them to receive personalized care and social development while they await their forever families. Meanwhile, our cat residents can be visited at our physical shelter in Acushnet, Massachusetts, where they are cared for by our dedicated volunteers until they find their perfect match.
Adopting a pet is a joyful partnership, and we take great care to ensure each animal is ready for their new life. All our pets are spayed or neutered, receive age-appropriate vaccines, and benefit from the medical support and training they need to succeed in a home environment. We see the unique diamond in the rough beneath every sad eye, and we cannot wait for you to meet yours.
