Standish Humane Society
Our Mission
Standish Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats and kittens in need across the South Shore of Massachusetts. We strive to inspire a community where all felines—feral and friendly—are understood, cared for, and given the chance to thrive.
A History of Compassion
Our journey began with a deep-rooted commitment to helping stray animals in Duxbury, and while our focus has evolved to exclusively supporting felines, our heart remains the same. Today, we work tirelessly to reduce overpopulation through low-cost spay and neuter programs and active management of feral cat colonies. We are proud to serve as a beacon of hope for thousands of cats each year.
How We Care
We believe in a holistic approach to animal welfare that combines a dedicated shelter facility with an essential network of foster homes. These homes are vital for providing quiet, safe spaces for shy cats, nursing mothers, or abandoned kittens to grow and trust. By combining expert veterinary care with socialization and community education, we ensure every cat in our care receives the personalized attention they deserve.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We view adoption as a joyful, lifelong partnership, which is why our dedicated counselors prioritize thoughtful, individualized matching. By learning about your home environment, lifestyle, and family needs, we ensure a win-win transition for both you and your new companion. We are committed to setting you and your new furry family member up for a lifetime of success together.
