Forever Home Rescue New England

A Dedicated Path to Forever

Forever Home Rescue New England is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization passionately devoted to saving the lives of dogs by finding them permanent, loving homes. We believe every dog deserves to be treated as a cherished member of the family for the rest of their lives.

Our Mission and Origin

Founded in 2008, our group of friends came together with a shared desire to help dogs in need, particularly those from overcrowded, high-risk shelters in the southern United States. By focusing our resources where we can make the greatest impact, we have successfully facilitated over 9,700 adoptions to date.

A Collaborative Care Model

We operate as a network of dedicated foster homes, supported by a professional team that ensures every dog is cared for safely and effectively. Dogs arriving from the south spend time in foster care or at our quarantine facility in Medfield, Massachusetts, allowing us to prepare them for their transition into new homes. We are proud of our collaborative environment where volunteers work together to provide high-quality care.

Finding Your Perfect Match

We are deeply committed to ensuring a successful match between our rescues and your family. Because we want to ensure long-term happiness, we use a thoughtful application process to learn about your lifestyle and preferences, helping us guide you toward the dog that best fits your home. Our transparent, volunteer-led process ensures you receive the support you need to make your new addition a success.

Join Our Community

Whether you are ready to adopt, volunteer at our Medfield facility, or become a foster parent, there are many ways to get involved. We invite you to view our available dogs online, join us at one of our Monday open houses, or reach out to our team to start your journey toward a happy ending.

10/23 - It always breaks our hearts when a dog is returned to us. It’s hard enough when the dog is surrendered after only a short time (patience is a must when you rescue a dog). But when a dog gets returned after several months (or longer), it really chokes us up. The family is heartbroken. The dogs is sad and confused. Everyone is miserable. And then there is the challenge of rehoming a dog that has been returned. An unfair stigma can be attached to these situations as people assume there is something “wrong” with the dog when that is not the case at all. Koda’s situation is particularly heartbreaking. He was adopted from us as a young puppy in March of 2025 (fka Loki). His family adores him. He adores his family, including his 3 cats siblings and doggie big brother. But over time, Koda has started guarding his food, his toys, and his people, and has gotten very aggressive toward his brother. After months trying to manage the situation safely and consulting with behaviorists, the family made the heartbreaking decision to rehome their beloved Koda through Forever Home. If we shared the family’s email about Koda and their decision to rehome him, it would bring tears to your eyes. Their love is so deep. And so is their pain. But, our focus now is on finding a new forever home for dear Koda. One where he can be the only dog - the sole apple of his family’s eye. You can find more details on Koda on our web site (go to the “Our Dogs” page), but here are the highlights. - 18 months old and 65 lbs - A silly, sweet, and VERY affectionate boy - A major licker and cuddler - House broken and good on a leash - Knows all his basic commands - An angel at the vet - A foodie who loves whole food treats If you’re interested in adopting Koda, please go to our website (link in bio) and fill out an application. You can also meet him at our open house on Monday, Oct. 19th from 3 - 5 pm at 106 Adams Street in Medfield. FYI - you do NOT need an approved application to attend an open house. You also don’t need to attend an open house to adopt! If interested, you can schedule a time to meet Koda outside of the open house times. #adoptdontshop #rescuedogsof

10/21 - ADOPTED!!! It took Sera a little bit to settle in at her foster home, but boy is she comfortable now! Here’s the latest foster update on this 9-month, 18-lb beauty. “Sera can still be a little cautious with new people, but she is getting quicker about warming up. She’s revealing herself to be quite the cuddly little lap dog.” Sera is not a fan of the crate, so I’ve been leaving her in my living room and kitchen area uncrated and she’s doing well. She doesn’t show signs of being bad chewer (though I recommend you hide your shoes!) and mainly sticks to her bones. Sera had a great day at the Auburn Dog Park the other day. She enjoyed herself so much we stayed a hour and a half! She is becoming more comfortable with different styles of play from dogs. Her potty training is going well. She is going outdoors more frequently but still will go on pee pad when I am not home for long periods of time. She has been great about that, but her new family should expect a few accidents here and there for a short while as she settles into her forever home.” - Lauren, Sera’s foster mom If you’re interested in adopting Sera, head over to our website (link in bio) and fill out an application. Please know that you do NOT need an approved application to attend an open house. You also don’t need to attend an open house to adopt! 10/6 - ADOPTED!!! Hallie was the first pup off the transport truck this past Saturday! That’s how excited she is to start her new life. Hallie is an adorable Boxer/Lab mix who weighs about 50 pounds and is about 9 months of age. Hallie’s Tennessee-based foster mom says she is happy, loving, smart and will make a great companion. And her new Massachusetts foster mom is already charmed by her sweet demeanor and good manners. She still has some puppy energy, so, like all puppies, will need continued training, regular exercise and lots of love and patience. Learn more about Hallie and apply to adopt her on our website (link in bio). You can also meet Hallie or any of our available dogs (with or without an approved application), at our weekly open house, held every Monday from 3 - 5 pm at 106 Adams Street in Medfield, MA. *You also don’t need to attend an open house to adopt!
