Scituate Animal Shelter

Our Mission

At the Scituate Animal Shelter of Massachusetts, we are dedicated to saving homeless pets and helping the people who love them. We believe in providing a safe, supportive environment where animals can heal and wait to find their perfect, permanent families.

Why We Are Here

We are a community-focused organization that understands the deep bond between pets and their owners. Each year, we find homes for an average of over 500 animals and reunite dozens of lost pets with their grateful owners, providing as much time and care as each animal needs to thrive.

How We Help

Our commitment to animal welfare extends beyond our facility. We provide essential resources to our community, including thousands of pounds of free pet food, low-cost vaccination clinics, and guidance on spay/neuter services for those facing financial hardship. We are proud to maintain a no-kill facility, meaning we never euthanize animals for length of stay or lack of space.

Finding Your Best Friend

Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we prioritize finding the most appropriate match for each pet rather than working on a first-come, first-served basis. By carefully reviewing each application and facilitating thoughtful introductions, we ensure that every adoption is set up for long-term success. We invite you to view our adoptable pets online or visit us during our open hours to start the journey toward meeting your new best friend.

Take the Next Step

Ready to welcome a new companion into your life or support our mission? You can browse our currently adoptable animals on our website, explore our upcoming community events, or reach out to us if you have any questions. We look forward to helping you find your new family member!

We have a nice senior lady from the Scituate Animal Shelter that we want you to meet. Her name is Cher! Cher is a nice senior (13) lady whose owner could no longer care for her. She is friendly, and seeks out attention, but is also content snoozing on her bed or in the window.

10/15 - Sebastian has been through a lot. Now, we’d really love to see something wonderful happen for him. This sweet senior gentleman came to SAS after his owner passed away, leaving him in need of a new home and a little extra care. Our veterinary team got to work, providing a much-needed dental and correcting a painful eye condition called entropion, which causes the eyelid to turn inward. Today, Sebastian is feeling so much better and is ready for his next chapter. And despite his slightly grumpy photos, this sweet boy has so much to offer someone willing to open their home to a senior. He had a person once. We’d love nothing more than to help him find another. 🥹 Email adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org to request an adoption application. Not able to adopt? Please share Sebastian. His next person might be just one share away. 🤍

10/13 - Maybe this is the sign you’ve been waiting for. 🤍 To adopt the older cat. To give someone who’s been overlooked a chance. To remind a senior shelter pet that the best days aren’t necessarily behind them. Meet Velma. She’s 10 years young, loves attention, still enjoys playing with her toys, and has so much love left to give. She’s lived with another cat before, although she may prefer being the only pet in her new home. And somewhere out there, we know there’s someone who would be lucky to call her theirs. Maybe that someone is you. 🥹 📩 Email adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org to request an adoption application. And if adopting isn’t in the cards for you right now, please share this Reel. Maybe you’re not Velma’s person, but you could be the reason she finds them. 🤍

10/7 - Cassius is a lover, not a fighter! At just 10 months old, this sweet boy is still very much a big puppy and he’s ready to do all that growing up with a family of his own. Cassius has lived with children ages 7+ and seems to do well with other dogs. His perfect match will be ready for all the fun that comes with a young dog, including continuing his basic puppy training and helping him become the very best boy he can be. He’s sweet, young, lovable, and has his whole life ahead of him. Now he just needs someone to share it with. 🥹 Could Cassius be your match? Email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org for an application! Not your match? Share this Reel… his person might be following you. 🐾

10/5 - Things Grouchy is… adorable, outgoing, an absolute delight. Things Grouchy certainly is NOT… grouchy. 😂 Grouchy came to us with two other cats and, after getting over a little cold, she’s feeling much better and officially ready to find her forever home. 🤍 She’s friendly, outgoing, lovely and hoping her perfect match is out there. Think Grouchy could be yours? Email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org for an application! Not your match? Share her and help us find who is. 🫶🏼

10/1 - We have a feeling Duncan is going to be someone’s absolute best friend. At 94 pounds, there’s a whole lot of Duncan to love… and luckily, he has a whole lot of love to give right back. He’s an absolute sweetheart who wants to be close to his people, leaning in for pets and soaking up every bit of affection he can get. He’s still young and learning, so his perfect match will be someone who loves big dogs and is excited to help him work on his training and leash manners. Because of his size, a home without small children will be best. But truly? This big guy is such a love. He just needs someone to look at him and see their dog. 🥹 Could Duncan be your perfect match? Email us at adopt@scituateanimalshelter.org for an application! Please share… Duncan’s person is out there! Let’s find them and send him home! 🫶🏼 Scituate Animal Shelter, Scituate MA
