The Thomas J. O'Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center is dedicated to providing comprehensive animal control services and programs to protect both our community and our animal companions. We strive to provide a second chance for every pet in our care, connecting them with loving forever homes.
We are a municipally funded shelter proudly serving the cities of Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee, Massachusetts. Our center acts as a vital resource for our region, caring for nearly 4,000 animals each year including dogs, cats, and the occasional unique visitor.
Located on Cottage Street in Springfield, our facility serves as a safe harbor for stray, abandoned, or relinquished animals. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure the health and happiness of our residents, providing necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and microchipping before they head home. With over 97% of our healthy, friendly animals finding their new families, our center is a thriving place of hope and new beginnings.
Adoption is a joyful journey, and we are committed to helping you find the perfect match for your lifestyle. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy, a gentle senior cat, or a spirited dog, our staff is here to guide you through the process, including our Safe Dog Meets program to ensure harmony in your household. We believe that every unclaimed animal deserves a second opportunity to shine.
We invite you to visit our adoption center to meet your future companion or learn about our volunteer and foster programs. Please check our website for our current hours, as we are open to the public four days a week with weekend availability by appointment. Your support, whether through adoption, volunteering, or donation, helps us continue our vital work for the animals of Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee.
