Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling MA
Our Mission
Founded in 1988, Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling is dedicated to providing humane care and high-quality medical services to stray, unwanted, and neglected animals. Our mission is to ensure every pet in our care finds a loving, lifelong home.
Who We Are
As a non-profit, no-kill organization, we have proudly served our community since being incorporated in 1996. We operate a clean, friendly facility where we provide comfort and hope to animals in need while promoting responsible pet ownership throughout our community.
Our Care Model
We believe in providing the best possible start for every animal, supported by our on-site veterinary clinic that cares for thousands of animals annually. While we utilize foster homes and our own facilities to house pets, we are committed to providing medical care and socialization until each animal is ready to join a family. Our goal is to set the standard for animal care by raising the bar for compassion and professionalism.
Finding Your Perfect Match
We view adoption as a deeply personal, magical journey that connects pets with their new families. Because we take this commitment seriously, our adoption counselors focus on making the perfect match rather than simply processing paperwork. We encourage you to bring your entire family—and even your resident dogs—to the shelter to ensure that every new relationship begins with trust and compatibility.
Join Our Community
Whether you are ready to adopt, donate, or volunteer, there are many ways to support our mission. We invite you to visit our shelter in Sterling, Massachusetts, during our operating hours to meet the wonderful animals currently waiting for their second chance. Together, we can create more happy endings for the pets who need us most.

8/23 - Pet of the Week: Orange you glad to meet Goldie?
Our family is totally wild about orange striped tomcats — and urge anyone who loves cats, to consider adopting these lovable, clowning felines.
5/3 - Pet of the Week: Daisy is a doozy
It won’t be long before the daisies pop up in the fields, but Daisy the dog popped up as a stray in Ashby where Animal Control determined she was a fox hound, and about 5 years old.
