Humane Society of Huron Valley
Our Mission
Our mission is to support the loving, responsible care of all animals in our community. We are dedicated to saving lives and helping people find their new best friends through compassion and professional support.
A Legacy of Compassion
Since 1896, we have proudly served Washtenaw County for over 125 years. As the only animal shelter in the county, we remain committed to protecting the most vulnerable, from the lost and abandoned to the injured, ensuring they receive a second chance at a happy life.
How We Help
We are a no-kill shelter, as defined by Maddie’s Fund, consistently recognized for having the highest save rate among similar shelters in Michigan. Our dedicated team cares for over 24,000 animals annually, supported by our shelter facility in Ann Arbor and our innovative programs like the Tiny Lions Cat Café, which helps find homes for hundreds of cats.
Your Adoption Journey
We believe there is a perfect pet for every good person. Our adoption process is designed to be a positive experience; our knowledgeable adoption specialists are here to provide the information you need to make a successful match. Because we prioritize the welfare of our animals, we take the time to ensure every adoption is a joyful, lifelong partnership.
