Our Mission
The Humane Society of Bay County is dedicated to saving and protecting animal lives through education, advocacy, and social change. We work daily to strengthen the unique bond between humans and animals, creating a brighter future for every pet in our community.
Our History and Purpose
Founded in November 1984 by a group of compassionate citizens, we were established to address the critical need for animal advocacy in our region. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we operate as a separate entity from Bay County Animal Services, relying entirely on the generosity of our donors to fund our vital work.
How We Help
We are a proud foster-based rescue, meaning our animals receive personalized care in safe, loving temporary homes while they wait for their forever families. This model allows our animals to thrive in home environments, helping us learn their unique personalities and needs. Beyond rescue, we champion humane programs like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to reduce overpopulation and offer local vaccination clinics to keep pets healthy and with their owners.
