Friends of Michigan Animals Rescue provides a safe haven for cats and dogs in need, offering care, compassion, and the opportunity to find loving homes. We are dedicated to educating our community on responsible pet ownership and celebrating the unbreakable bond between people and animals.
Founded in April 2003 by Pete and Marcy LaFramboise, FMAR began as a non-profit rescue committed to helping local animals. Over the past 20 years, we have grown from a single building into a 6.5-acre farm facility designed to provide comprehensive care and sanctuary for our residents.
Our facility has evolved to include specialized spaces such as the Cat Haven, a large community cat area, and the Dog Retreat, which houses up to 24 dogs. We also maintain a dedicated building for the isolation of sick animals and Sumpter Township strays, ensuring that every animal receives the specific medical attention they require. Supported by six employees and over 100 dedicated volunteers, we pride ourselves on maintaining a clean, compassionate environment where animals can thrive while awaiting their families.
We believe that every adoption is a meaningful partnership, which is why our goal is to match the right pet with the right family. Our adoption process is designed to ensure a successful, healthy, and safe transition for both you and your new companion. We are here to support you throughout this exciting journey, providing the guidance and information needed for a lasting, loving relationship.
Whether you are looking to welcome a new furry friend into your home, volunteer your time, or support us through a donation, you are an essential part of our mission.
