The Delta Animal Shelter is a dedicated 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing compassionate, direct care to the animals of Delta County. We believe in creating bright futures for our furry residents, offering them a safe, welcoming environment as they wait for their new families.
When the original county-run facility faced closure in 2011, a passionate group of animal lovers—the Delta Area Animal Society—stepped in to ensure our county’s animals would always have a place to call home. Today, we are proud to be the only animal shelter in the county, serving over 1,200 animals annually.
As an open-admissions shelter, we turn no animal away, regardless of age or health status. Our staff and volunteers provide dedicated care, featuring warm blankets, engaging toys, and essential socialization, maintaining an impressive 98% save rate. We also rely on a vital foster network, allowing animals needing extra attention or special care to thrive in temporary, loving homes before they find their forever match.
We believe that successful adoptions start with intentional matching. We work closely with prospective families to understand your lifestyle, expectations, and personality to ensure a harmonious bond between you and your new pet. Our mission is to see every animal placed into a loving home where they can flourish and thrive for years to come.
We invite you to meet the wonderful animals currently waiting for a family to call their own. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering, or want to contribute to our daily care efforts, your support helps us continue our life-saving work.
