Adopt-A-Pet, Inc.
Our Mission
Adopt-A-Pet, Inc. is a nonprofit animal center dedicated to placing adoptable animals into loving, appropriate homes while reducing shelter overcrowding through supportive community programs. We strive for a day when no animal is left without a family to call their own.
A History of Compassion
Founded in 1978 by Judy Neuwirth and Sue Lucas, our organization began as a grassroots effort to save homeless animals from euthanasia. What started with weekly open houses at a local real estate office has grown into a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and foster homes serving the Fenton, Michigan community.
Our Unique Care Model
Located on eight scenic acres, our state-of-the-art facility is thoughtfully designed to support both the physical and mental well-being of our residents. Our campus features spacious play areas, an agility course, cat-friendly outdoor patios, and a specialized dog building with heated floors, ensuring our animals live in comfort while they wait for their forever families.
The Joy of the Right Match
We believe that adopting a pet is the beginning of a life-changing journey, and we take great care to ensure each match is perfect for both the animal and the human companion. By carefully screening applicants, we create lasting, successful partnerships where every pet is treated as a valued family member. We are proud to provide every animal with full medical care, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping before they head home.
