Little Traverse Bay Humane Society

Our Mission

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is dedicated to sustainably and respectfully serving pets and the people who love them with compassionate, comprehensive, and exemplary care. We are committed to creating lasting connections that allow both pets and their families to thrive.

Our History and Community

Since 1951, we have been a pillar of animal welfare in Harbor Springs, Michigan. As a non-profit, no-kill organization, we exist to provide a safe haven for animals in need while supporting the residents of Emmet County and beyond with essential resources.

Our Commitment to Care

At our facility, every animal receives medical evaluations, enrichment, and daily care in a supportive, professional environment. We pride ourselves on being a resilient team that meets pets and people exactly where they are—without judgment—to find innovative, effective solutions for every animal in our care.

Your Partner in Adoption

Choosing to adopt is a truly life-changing decision, and our dedicated staff is here to help you find the perfect match for your family and lifestyle. We believe that thoughtful, compassionate matching is the foundation of a successful, lifelong partnership between a pet and their new human best friend.

9/29 - We’re pretty sure Otis’ ears arrived before the rest of him. 😂 This 7-year-old Coonhound is 72 pounds of floppy ears, tail wags and a whole lot of love for attention. Otis loves meeting people, happily accepts all the pets and has some pretty good manners, too—he knows sit and shake and has been working on his leash skills. He recently did an amazing job on an Angel Visit to a local senior living community, where he gently took treats and happily greeted everyone he met. And even better: Otis’ adoption fee has been sponsored! Come meet him at LTBHS and see those ears in action. 🤎 #LTBHS #MeetOtis #AdoptLocal #Coonhound
