Northwoods Animal Shelter
Our Mission
The Northwoods Animal Shelter is dedicated to inspiring compassion and respect for animals while ensuring each one finds a permanent, loving home. We believe that anything is pawsible when we work together to support our community's furry residents.
Our Story
Our journey began in August 2001 when a group of concerned citizens united to improve the care of local shelter animals. Since our founding, we have served as a safe, compassionate refuge for homeless, neglected, and abused animals in the Iron County, Michigan community.
How We Care
Operated by a passionate team of volunteers and staff at our facility on Selden Road, we provide a safe environment where basic needs are met and limited medical care is given. We maintain a clean, welcoming complex featuring dog and cat kennels and an outdoor dog run, where our animals receive daily exercise, grooming, and essential affection.
The Adopter Connection
We believe adoption is a joyful partnership, and our dedicated team works closely with you to find the perfect match based on your lifestyle and the animal's individual needs. By choosing to adopt, you are not only transforming a life but also opening space in our shelter to rescue another animal in need.
Join Our Community
Are you ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to view our available animals on our website or visit us by appointment to start your journey. If you cannot adopt, there are many ways to support our mission, including volunteering your time or donating to our shelter wish list.
