HOPE Animal Shelter
Our Mission
HOPE Animal Shelter is dedicated to the direct care of animals in need and committed to finding them safe, loving, and forever homes. We believe that every living creature deserves to be treated with kindness and respect as they wait for their new beginning.
Our History and Community
Founded in 1992, our organization has served as a beacon for animal welfare in Gogebic County, Michigan, and Iron County, Wisconsin for over three decades. As the area’s only animal shelter, we provide essential medical treatment, food, and safe refuge to over 500 dogs and cats each year, ensuring they remain comfortable while waiting for their perfect family match.
A Haven for Healing
We are a “no time limits” shelter, meaning we care for domestic dogs and cats for as long as they need us. Our animals receive compassionate care from dedicated staff and volunteers, including warm blankets, toys, treats, and plenty of socialization. Beyond the shelter, our foster program allows us to save even more lives by providing a temporary home environment for pets who need a little extra space or attention.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Adoption is a life-changing commitment, and we are here to ensure it is a joyful experience for both you and your new pet. We encourage you and your family to visit the shelter, take a dog for a walk, or spend time with a cat to truly get to know their unique personality. Our adoption process is designed to foster thoughtful connections, helping us match every animal with a home where they can thrive as a part of the family.
