Animal Rescue Project is dedicated to saving at-risk pets from overcrowded shelters and providing them with the medical care and love they deserve. We work tirelessly to create brighter futures for homeless animals by helping them find loving, lifelong families.
Founded in 2010, our organization was created to address the urgent needs of homeless pets in Southwest Michigan. Since our inception, we have grown into a dedicated team of staff and over 150 active volunteers, all united by a passion for animal welfare and a commitment to transforming the lives of pets in need.
We operate as a no-kill organization, affirming every pet’s right to life and companionship. Our shelter provides a comfortable, healthy environment where rescued dogs and cats receive high-quality medical treatment, nutritious food, and plenty of socialization while they await their forever homes. As an independent charity, we rely entirely on the support of our community, ensuring that 94 cents of every dollar goes directly toward the rescue, rehabilitation, and care of our animals.
We believe that successful adoptions are the heart of our mission, which is why we take great care in matching every pet with the right family. Our rigorous adoption process is designed to ensure each placement is a perfect, lasting fit for both you and your new companion. We are here to support you throughout the transition, helping you problem-solve and celebrate as you welcome a new member into your home.
We invite you to experience the joy of companionship by exploring our current adoptable cats and dogs online or visiting us at our center in Kalamazoo. Whether you choose to adopt, volunteer, or support us through a donation, you are an essential part of the Animal Rescue Project family. We look forward to meeting you and helping you find your new best friend.
