Sanilac County Humane Society
Our Mission
The Sanilac County Humane Society is dedicated to providing shelter and medical care for homeless animals while facilitating permanent, loving placements. As the only independent no-kill shelter in the Thumb of Michigan, we are committed to being a safe haven for every animal that comes through our doors.
Who We Are
We are a private, non-profit humane agency that relies entirely on the generosity of private donations to keep our doors open. By serving as a compassionate bridge between homeless pets and their future families, we work daily to reduce the number of animals in need through community outreach, education, and accessible spay/neuter initiatives.
Our Care Model
Our facility provides both short- and long-term housing solutions, ensuring each cat and dog receives the care they deserve while awaiting their forever homes. As a volunteer-run organization, our operations are deeply connected to the support of our local community, allowing us to focus on the unique welfare needs of every animal in our care.
Finding Your Perfect Companion
Our adoption process is thoughtfully designed with the welfare of each animal in mind, ensuring a happy and lasting connection for both pet and owner. We believe that adopting a pet is a joyful partnership, and we are here to support you in finding a new member of your family who will thrive in your home.
