Menominee Animal Shelter

Our Mission

The Menominee Animal Shelter is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty and the relief of suffering among animals. We strive to provide a safe haven for pets in need, ensuring they receive humane care and a path toward a loving forever home.

Serving Our Community

As a private non-profit organization, we are proud to serve as a vital resource for Marinette and Menominee Counties. We rely on the generous support of our community through donations, adoption fees, and partnerships to continue our work protecting the animals in our region.

Our Approach to Care

Our shelter operations are focused on providing a high standard of care in a comfortable, safe environment. We are committed to transparency in our processes, which include maintaining a waitlist for surrenders to ensure we stay within legal capacities while keeping stress and disease levels as low as possible for our residents.

Finding Your Perfect Match

Adoption is a joyful partnership, and we are here to help you find the right friend for your family. Our team asks thoughtful, detailed questions during the adoption process because we are deeply committed to making the best possible matches. By understanding each animal's personality and needs, we help ensure a successful, lasting transition for both you and your new pet.

9/21 - ADOPTED Say hello to Talulah and Elly May! Two sisters that ran away from a situation that we cannot fathom to understand, to find themselves at our door as strays back in APRIL. That’s 161 days in the shelter. These girls came to us with their white fur completely stained yellow from urine and a thick odor that took weeks of daily baths to alleviate. They were terrified of any human contact, leaving them cowering and flinching at any sudden movement. As you can imagine, this made it difficult for staff to catch them in their play yards when it was time to come inside. It’s been a long 161 days but the girls’ have truly made tremendous progress in this time. They bark and howl when they see their favorite volunteers, letting them know they are eager to go on their daily walk. They now approach staff in their play yard and flop over for belly rubs and pets. And they pounce with excitement every time they see a fellow canine playmate heading to their yard. We’ve tested them apart from each other and through observation we believe that they would be fine to be adopted out separately. We do think that they would thrive in a home with another dog or two though to continue to learn from and to build their confidence with. They will take some time to warm up to new people and they may never be “lap dogs”, but once they’re comfortable, they’ll show you their goofy, hound-dog personalities! All they are looking for right now is a patient and understanding home that can provide them with the safety and comfort that they so desperately need and deserve ❤️
