Our Mission

Great Lakes Dog Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to rescuing well-tempered, adoptable dogs from animal control facilities and owner-surrenders. We strive to provide every dog in our care with a safe, nurturing environment until they find their forever home.

Commitment to Our Community

Based in Metamora, Michigan, we believe that education is the foundation of successful, lifelong relationships between pets and their people. By supporting responsible pet ownership, we aim to build a stronger, more compassionate community for dogs and their families.

How We Care for Our Dogs

Our rescue provides essential shelter and medical care for dogs while they wait for their new families. We also offer temporary foster opportunities, which allow dogs to experience a loving, out-of-shelter environment, helping them prepare for their transition into a permanent home.
