The Humane Society of Midland County is dedicated to improving the lives of people and pets in our communities by finding permanent, loving homes for unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals. We believe every animal deserves a second chance at happiness and a safe place to call home.
Since 2011, we have operated as the only animal shelter in Midland County and proudly serve as a no-kill facility. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that receives no government funding, our success is built entirely on the compassion of our community, staff, and dedicated volunteers who provide daily care, enrichment, and hope to the animals in our doors.
Our small but mighty team manages the shelter with a focus on health and wellness, ensuring all animals are fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped before they find their new families. We rely on a robust foster program to provide temporary care and a safe haven for pets in need, while our volunteers ensure every dog and cat receives daily attention and love. We are committed to transparency in our work and strive to be a reliable resource for pet owners through spay/neuter initiatives and pet support programs.
Adopting is more than just bringing home a pet; it is a life-changing partnership that creates a new chapter for both you and your new furry companion. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy or a seasoned senior, our adoption process is designed to help you find a match that fits your lifestyle. Our team works hard to understand each animal's personality, ensuring that your transition from shelter to snuggles is a joyful experience.
Ready to meet your new best friend? We invite you to browse our available animals online or visit us at our Ashman Street location during our adoption hours. You can also become part of our community by volunteering, joining our foster network, or supporting us through the Friends of the Shelter program.
