The Humane Animal Treatment Society (HATS) empowers our community to support the compassionate treatment of all animals. We are their shelter, and we believe that together, we are their future.
For over 25 years, HATS has made Mid-Michigan a safer place for companion animals. Founded in 1999 by a dedicated group of animal lovers, our organization has grown from a vision into a vital 501(c)(3) non-profit that serves as the sole provider of care and adoption services at the Isabella County animal facility.
We provide a clean, safe environment for hundreds of homeless or lost pets each year, offering food, medical care, and behavioral support. Our work is powered by community support, dedicated volunteers, and our Health Clinic, which provides low-cost spay and neuter services to help reduce animal overpopulation throughout our region. We prioritize quality care over quantity, ensuring each animal receives the attention they deserve while awaiting their forever home.
Adoption is a lifelong commitment, and we look forward to helping you find the perfect match for your lifestyle, living situation, and activity level. Our experienced adoption counselors are here to guide you through a thoughtful process that ensures a happy, healthy partnership for both human and animal. Whether you are looking for a playful puppy, a mellow adult cat, or a senior friend, we work to make every adoption a rewarding success story.
