Kalamazoo Animal Rescue
Our Mission
Kalamazoo Animal Rescue is devoted to providing refuge and compassionate care to homeless, stray, and unwanted cats and dogs in Kalamazoo County and surrounding areas. We believe every animal deserves a permanent, loving home, and we work tirelessly until every pet finds theirs.
Our Story
Founded in 1991, our organization began as an all-volunteer, foster-based group dedicated to helping animals in need. Over the past 30 years, we have grown significantly, transitioning to a licensed shelter in 2017 and moving into our own dedicated facility in 2023 to better serve our community.
How We Care
We combine a nurturing shelter environment with a dedicated network of volunteers to provide the medical care and love our animals deserve while they wait for their forever families. Beyond adoption, we are committed to the health of the broader pet population through our in-house spay and neuter services and low-cost wellness clinics, ensuring that families have access to essential preventative care for their beloved companions.
Finding Your Perfect Match
Adopting from us is a rewarding experience that saves two lives: the animal you welcome into your heart and the next one in need who takes their place. We take great care in our adoption process to ensure a wonderful fit for both the pet and your family, creating lasting partnerships built on trust and companionship.
