The Humane Society of Branch County is dedicated to providing humane care and treatment for all animals in need of protection. We strive to advocate for animal welfare, educate our community on safety, and champion spaying and neutering to manage the unwanted pet population.
Since our organization was founded by Debbie Brooks in 1973, we have remained a steadfast no-kill advocate for animals in Quincy, Michigan. We opened our current shelter location in 1979 thanks to the generous land donation from Oral and Ida Mae Stetler and the support of dedicated community members. For decades, we have provided a safe haven for animals, and we are currently planning facility expansions to create even more room for pets awaiting their forever families.
As a private non-profit organization, we rely entirely on the kindness of our supporters. We do not receive any city, county, or state funding; our facility runs solely through generous donations, bequests, grants, and the tireless efforts of our dedicated volunteers. This community-driven model allows us to focus our resources directly on the well-being and happiness of the animals in our care.
Adopting a pet is a joyful journey, and we are here to help you make a lifelong connection. Our caring team ensures that each animal receives essential medical care, including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and health testing. We prioritize thoughtful matching, ensuring that every dog and cat finds a home where they can truly thrive.
We invite you to visit our shelter on Wildwood Road to meet our wonderful adoptable animals. Whether you are ready to adopt, interested in volunteering to walk dogs, or able to support us through our wish list of supplies, we would love to meet you. Please visit our Pet Finder page or contact us today to see how you can help give a deserving pet a second chance.
