The Al-Van Humane Society is dedicated to compassionately serving the companion animals in our community by providing the best shelter, adoptive homes, education, and resources available. We believe that every pet deserves love, care, and above all, a home.
Founded in 1968, Al-Van Humane Society has spent decades serving as a non-profit animal welfare organization. We are deeply committed to our community, providing essential shelter and support for over 600 animals annually from Allegan and Van Buren counties.
Since 2012, we have proudly operated as a no-kill shelter. Our team is dedicated to providing high-quality care, which includes spaying and neutering every animal prior to adoption to help reduce the number of unwanted pets. From our dedicated Adoption & Community Education Center in South Haven, we strive to offer the most professional and compassionate environment possible for every animal in our care.
We believe that finding your perfect match is a joyful experience, and our adoption process is designed to ensure a successful, lasting partnership. By using adoption surveys and offering personalized consultations, our staff works closely with you to understand your lifestyle and find a companion that fits perfectly into your home. We even offer a Foster-to-Adopt program for eligible pets, giving you and your potential new friend the time to ensure it is the right fit.
Whether you are looking to adopt, volunteer, or support our resale shop, Rescued Treasures, there are many ways to make a difference. We invite you to visit our website to view our currently adoptable dogs and cats, or stop by to meet our team. Together, we can provide the loving futures our animals deserve.
