Formed in 1989 by a group of concerned local citizens, our mission is to make a meaningful difference for animals in our community. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, we have spent decades serving as a vital resource for families and their pets in Alexandria and beyond.

Our facility offers a safe, stable environment where animals receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting their new families. Our dedicated staff provides comprehensive support, including behavioral counseling, training, and essential services like low-cost microchipping to help keep pets safe.

We encourage you to visit our shelter to meet our pets in person, where our staff will help you find a companion that fits your lifestyle and home environment. To ensure total peace of mind, we offer a 24-hour adoption hold and a week-long 'Trial for Adoption' period, giving you the time you need to ensure your new pet is the right fit for your family.
